This is the penultimate book in the Sword of Truth series. One more to go! I just finished Phantom and am now starting Confessor, the last in the Sword of Truth series. Both of these are on audiobook for me - I've been listening to the series while I knit. and Chainfire: Phantom by Goodkind #92 Lantzy: Funny story about the Goodkind series - I checked out the audio book version of Phantom from the library a few months ago as my listen-while-I-knit book, and was halfway through it before I realized it was #10 in a series (what a space cadet)! So, I started at the beginning and am ... Started Wizard's First Rule (Terry Goodkind) today on audio cd, since I borrowed the audio version of Phantom from the library earlier and realized halfway through that it was part of a series, and far from the first book in said series (what a dope, eh?). The story's very good, but the ... ... up quite nicely...

-Phantom (Terry Goodkind) (audiobook): good story, but sometimes he makes me feel like a Math grad student sitting in on a 5th grade class learning about long division: ... ... book showed me the power of the down-trodden and gave me hope for what had seemed to me to be a bleak future indeed.
Phantom by Susan Kay helped me learn that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that you must hold yourself to your own expectations and no one else's.

Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth was getting pretty meh for awhile, but I really enjoyed the latest one, Phantom. My 19-year old generally hates reading (gasp!), but he has read the entire Sword of Truth series, except the 10th one, which I gave him for Christmas. I thought I would try to read the first one, Wizard's First Rule, so I could be a good mom and talk to him about it, etc. etc. I managed to ... I got just as far as you did, Melmoth, in the Wheel of Time books. I also stopped reading the Sword of Truth books after having gotten just about as far. I started just getting really annoyed at the way none of the characters could ever have any real wisdom of their own, it was all about how ... I'd go for the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, if you are looking for 'Epic' fantasy. It currently has 10 books, and also a prequel titled Debt of Bones.
Since you've already read all of RJ's books, you'll notice a lot of *odd* similar traits in the Goodkind ones, but hopefully ...
