Nola and Marnie were BFFs for years. But their friendship ended at the start of 9th grade, when Marnie tried to join Lizette Levin and her IN crowd, while Nola chose to stay OUT. Now, Nola and Marnie are worst enemies (WEFs) and determined to bring each other down. The friendship is over, but the drama has just begun! Because I read all four books at once, separating out my thoughts on each book is tricky. I did the first book a few months ago, but here's the quartet combined. I was really annoyed that Marnie would pull that, the thing with Matt having a girlfriend was also weird, and Nola's retaliation was even disturbing. I was actually kind of surprised that solutions happened- I was thinking that this would be an ongoing series of in-group vs. out-group. ( )

Ex-best friends, lies, jealousy, and tons of secrets... yep, it sounds like the cast of IN OR OUT is back!

Marnie and Nola believed that their friendship would last forever. That was way before they started high school. Freshmen year started out with a bang; well, more like an accident, with Nola stepping on Lizette's foot, making her totally out, leaving room for Marnie to be in.

Now, after their huge showdown, Marnie and Nola are back, but this time as enemies.

Nola just cannot believe that Marnie would betray her like that, letting Lizette wear the bracelet that she worked so hard on. But Nola doesn't need Marnie, since she has Matt now, who by the way is offering to take Marnie's spot as best friend. Unfortunately for Nola, this is just too much for her to take in. Sure, she gets to spend time with Matt, but she also gets to spend time hearing Matt talk to his girlfriend. Not only that but there is that manny who her parents hired to look after her brothers. If only he wasn't such a smart jerk, and totally cute.

Marnie doesn't need Nola anymore, either. She has Lizette now, and her almost boyfriend, Dane, by her side. And with the student council elections coming up, Marnie needs to stay focused, especially if she wants to win. But things are not so easy for Marnie. Even though she has Dane, Marnie still can't get over Sawyer, the guy who is now her new best friend's boyfriend. And then there is that certain rumor that could totally jeopardize all of Marnie's hard work of becoming a Major.

It seems like Marnie and Nola's friendship is far from the possibility of ever getting back to normal.

Fans of this new series will not be disappointed in this second installment. The girls are back with tons of problems, including ones involving boys, and they are not backing down. Who knew that high school could be so fierce? ( )

It's a war when two former best friends Marnie and Nola are no longer on speaking terms. Though they've both got some serious boy drama going on. Nola and Marnie are going into High School for the first time as Freshmans. The war begins over some kind of scarf that Nola lost and a braclet that Nola made for Marnie birthday, which Marnie lets Lizette used. Marnie becomes friends with this girl named Lizette and her two best friends Grier and Brynne. Brynne does not like Marnie much, though Lizette says she's always rude. Although ever since Marnie has been hanging out with new people, she also gains a boy friend and its going good for her. Its the time of the year for voting for each grade's Treasure. Lizette is Marnie manger for class Treasure, and she does all kinds of things like making up the theme name for the posters. Now, Nola, as had a hard time since the big argument with her former best friend. She is also in love with her new best friend Matt. Though he has a girl friend and it hurts Nola to hear about her all the time. Well Nola still has other friends that used to be Marnie's and her's. Those friends told Nola that she was with Nola on everything if anything else happends. Matt and Nola was both going good with being friends, like doing things Nola and Marnie used to do together. Even telling secrets. Well when Nola told Matt a secret that no one else knew but Nola, Marnie, and Marnie's mom. Though some how everyone knew about that secret. Marnie thought it was Nola and she was saying that it was her too. Things went on alot since then and it was hard for Marnie, though Marnie did when the class Treasure. Though at the end of the book Marnie was watching Grier put Brynne cell phone on silent so her phone would not get taken up by a teacher. Although when Marnie was watching she saw a purple marker, the same color of the marker on her posters from the election. At that moment she knew it was not Nola who runed her posters it was Brynne. Marnie knew that Nola was so mad at her that she would not even forgive her at all. ( )

Nola and Marnie now have to find a way to survive without each other. Although both girls secretly might have some misgivings, all outward appearances make it seem like both girls are thrilled to be finding new friends. There's a nice subplot happening with the boys in their lives, and it's complete anguish what Nola feels about Matt. ( )

This book was such a wonderful book! I absolutley love the characters, especially Matt. Claudia has a way of writing so you feel like you're in the book, makes you feel the tention between Marnie and Nola, makes you feel the love for Matt. She ends it a cliff hanger; with Matt having a secret he is keeping from Nola. ( )
