This is a beautifully crafted story about a close, slightly eccentric family and how they deal with a tragic loss. By turns funny, sad, hopeful and uplifting. A fairly quick read, but you'll be glad you did. "As always, MacLachlan's simple words speak ofàbig things. This time they talk about the death of a beloved sibling. Was is a word "so small and so big" as Jake, 11, remembers his younger brother from the day eight years ago when their mother broughtàbaby Edwardàhome from the hospital and put him in Jake's lap. Jakeàreads to Edward...But the surprise at the end of the story will take readers back to the beginning, and the beautiful words will makeàrereading a joy." From NoveList (Reviewed 09-01-2007) (Booklist, vol 104, number 1, p) Amazing..this book is so touching, even though its only 150 pgs or so you still care so much about the characters by the end of the book. I love books about people with real passions. The family in this book is passionate about baseball, books and babies. It's beautifully written and wonderfully read. Edward is one of a large and close family that loves baseball, music, books, and each other, and when he unexpectedly dies and his parents donate his organs, his wonderful eyes go to a perfect recipient. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
