Not part of her series & her first book of all, I think. Not bad. ( )

An excellent read and one of Hamilton's best works. I had entirely forgotten why I used to like Hamilton's works but now I remember again. If you enjoy the first few titles in Anita Blake series, you'll love this book. It belongs to the time where Laurell K.Hamilton was making a name for herself, so there is an actual plot.
A marvelous and capturing tale of treachery, bravery , friendship and enchantment.
Keleios is an half elf sorceress with prophetic and small demonic powers and one of the few survivors , who lived through the destruction of their keep. To make the matters even more complicated, she is forced to accept, the man she'd planned to kill in a duel , as her future consort. And of course this is just the beginning of the story.... ( )

early Hamilton. All of the bad writing and none of the plot. Initial exploration of themes used later in the Anita Blake books. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. I was more a fan of LKH in the beginning of her writing, as opposed to now, and this book has all of the good points of her earlier writing - less sex, more action. It is, however, amusing to see some of Anita Blake's personality traits pop up in the main character of this book, Keleios. It's easy to see the idiosyncrasies in Hamilton's writing through her female characters and their relationships. ( )

Nightseer is Laurell K.Hamilton's debut novel, and it is quite good for being a first effort. Fans of Hamilton will easily see the evolution of Anita Blake and Jean-Claude. This is set in a fantasy realm where the daughter of a powerful, and murdered, sorceress is being courted by an "evil" Dark Elf. Unfortunately, the novel ends with many questions unanswered. Nightseer didn't sell well enough after release for the publisher to buy the sequel. However, Hamilton says she has a sequel plotted out and hopes to release it in the future now that her popularity is so high. I hope so, I'd like to learn the fate of the two protagonist. ( )
