This book can be used for a younger audience. A lesson on storytelling can be use in accordance with this book. It is about penguins. A grandmother penguin tells a story from a long time ago to a group of young penguins. When they do not like the ending of her story she changes it. Audrey Wood's website is great for teachers and parents. It provides activity pages, teaching materials, and suggestions from the writer. http://www.audreywood.com/mac_site/cl...

This book is about a penguin who went away from the crowd and had a very fun day. Everything that little penguins are taught not to do this one did. He went and slide down mountian tops and did not get lost, he danced with the gooney birds and did not get in trouble, and he even partied with the walrus and did not get in trouble. The little penguin somehow managed to stay safe during his adventure until, he fell asleep by the deep dark sea and a whale ate him! Not really when the whale was biting he jumped out and swam home. All he lost was tail feathers. http://www.audreywood.com/mac_site/ac... is a website that teachers can use with Audrey Wood books.

A little penguin doesn't listen to his Grand Nanny. He runs away and plays and dances with all the other animals in the polar lands. Just before be gets eaten by a big wale, he escapes and runs back home. This is a good story for primary students. I think it is good to teach students to listen to parents, teachers, and other adults.

The book was about a older penguin telling young penguins a tale of long long ago and how a little penguin went off by himself and found a group of friends. They sailed to a walrus club and danced. When the little penguin got tired he fell asleep by the sea and almost got eaten by a whale. The little penguin got away and made it back to his friends. The little penguin lost a few tail feathers. I really enjoyed the book and it was funny.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0152464751, School & Library Binding)

Just as in the story that Grand Nanny Penguin is telling, Little Penguin slides down hills, dances with wild, silly, goony birds, and almost gets eaten by a whale. “The deep greens, bright yellows, and glacial blues depict a northern world of fun and frolic that is warm and appealing.”--Booklist
