This is a great book for first graders because of the pictures and easy text. He makes outrageous promises, and gets in alot of mischief when left alone. It is a great book for Pre-K to 1st grade students. The author uses several rhyming words to enhance phonemic awareness. It tells the story of a small pooch begging an adult for a bone. In the story, the pooch uses several words wiith the same ending (bone,throne, phone). The book is presented from the dog's poing of view- begging, making mischief, and ready to take a nap in Mistress's bed. He tells her that he will not bother anything if she would just give him a bone. He wants something to chew on and instead of messing with things around the house, he will chew on the bone.
