Frost goes beyond me with the longpiece "Kitty Hawik." One must slow down reading this man, for he is seldom as frothy as he was in Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, but he does present New England's picture profile well. ( )

Robert Frost, along with Carl Sandburg, is a favorite poet of mine, and one of the few I will sit down and read for pleasure. This is a worthy collection, even though it contains none of my favorites. Frost is that rare being who is able to recognize the sublime in the commonplace, and for whom nature tells the story of man. And any collection that contains the poem: "Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee / And I'll forgive Thy great big one on me." is eminently worthy. ( )
