Jim Qwilleran et ses deux siamois partent en vacances dans le chalet de Tante Fanny, une vieille femme de 89 ans, extravagante et autoritaire. Mais ces vacances à la campagne ne vont pas être aussi reposantes que prévu... ( )Opening Sentence: "...For Jim Qwilleran, veteran journalist, it was one of the most appaling moments of his career..." I have lost track of which books I have read in this series - so am reading them as I find them. Once I settled into this I recognised bits and pieces - but not whodunit so happily re-read it. Qwilleran is feeling restless - he is not happy with the newspaper he works for so heads off to Moose County and a house by the lake which is owned by an old friend of the family that he calls Aunt Fanny - and his Siamese cats, KoKo and Yum Yum, naturally accompany him. But if he thought it was going to be a restful time of reflection he was sadly mistaken. KoKO learns to turn on the cassette player, there are footsteps on the roof, screams in the night and laughter from the lake. Qwill knows something is going on - but just can't put a finger on it. Then the body's start - a glimse of one from a boat, a neighbour bashed to death. What on earth is going on - and why? I enjoy these quick and easy reads - some say the activities of the cats are not real - they have never lived with a Siamese!!! Qwill heads for the woods taking Koko and Yum-yum with him. Don't remember, can't rate. This was the less interesting book in the series so far, in my opinion, it all seemed a bit slow and under developed and I really didn't connect much with any of the Pickaxe City caracters, but as many of them will continue throughout the series maybe there will be time to learn more about them. But this will present another problem: Qwill went to the country to spend the summer but now it seems he will stay there, and I liked his city life and companions very much. I'm not a fan of the country, and Moose County didn't appeal to me even a little. I'm still a fan of Qwill and, obviously, Koko and Yum-Yum, so I'll continue to read the books and keep an open mind :) inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
