Trying to get away from the Eurocentric views of the time period established by our Victorian ancestors, he explains the dark sides of the Renaissance as well. The underlying argument is that the Renaissance is characterized by the spread ideas, like a bazaar (hence the title). Art and it’s propagandist uses, the Reformation, the discovery of the Americas, humanism, the spread of Eastern thoughts, and a number of other topics are discussed in a clear and interesting book that’s well worth the price ($15), especially compared to conventional textbooks that just list chronological facts. -J inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
