Meddelandefragment

... And of course it all started with Anne Rice's series, which is more adult in writing and subject matter. I also liked Let the right one in which is a more horror like vampire novel. Meanwhile, I finished #25, one of the last "big" books of this year because I have vacation in two days, ...

I tried it on Let the right one in, but the auto IMDB search only finds me a movie called L. No other options, while a search on IMDB returns the movie Lat den ratte komma in...

Finished #19, Let the right one in, suggested to me as a different vampire novel (different from Twilight). And different it was. The writer, John Ajvide Lindqvist is from Sweden, and this book, despite the horror in it, still retains that scandinavic feel. I really liked the calm flow of ...

I finished Let the right one in on the train home this evening. Now, time to pick out another book.... :D

I will finish reading Let the right one in this week, and then probably read some non-fiction...

I'll add my recommendation to the movie version of Let The Right One In, really well done, in a creepy dark way! I finished the fantastic A Town Like Alice and have moved on to The Coffin Trail by Martin Edwards. A British mystery that so far (2 chapters), is quite intriguing.

>divinenanny- I'll be curious what your thoughts will be on Let the Right One In. It seems to have received mixed reviews, I think due to a lackluster translation. I have seen the film version and it was outstanding!

Finished Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair and moved on to some scary vampires (as opposed to sparkly ones) in Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

... I like best. I'm continuing with The Scandalous Life of a True Lady sporadically because I'm totally engrossed in Let the Right One In, a non-romance novel which is so good that I can hardly bear to put it down.

#64 Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist A vampire novel that gradually gets more and more disturbing, but unlike certain other books that I've read recently, the gruesomeness didn't stop me from loving the book. Tense and at times brutal, I was told that I often had a seriously ...

Let the Right One In has been very popular, I'm sure thanks to the buzz generated by the film version. There are a few copies of Handling the Undead around in our regional library system, but I haven't seen it here yet.

8> Yes. Let the right one in should be on there, and Lindqvist has another 'Handling the undead'.

Hehe I think I need to star myself this group moves fast I see! Right well let the right one in was really good although very strange. It definitely goes back to the old vampire legends that it isnt a nice life its lonely. They have to be invited in before they can enter a house, they can only ...

Let the Right One In features on a list of top 10 vampire novels: No one who has seen the justly acclaimed film version of Lindqvist's bleak but unexpectedly humane novel will need much encouragement to seek out the original, where much that is cryptic about the on-screen story becomes ...

Finished In the Dark last night, meh. Started on one of the others I got for my birthday (back in April)- Let the Right One In.

62. Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist It was really interesting to read a Swedish author's take on vampires. This one was really interesting and a great read. The cover praises the author as the Swedish Stephen King. I do have to admit that there are some comparisons to be made. ...

... good. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson is very good, though if I remember right it's a short story. I really enjoyed Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, but it's kind of mature and bloody and can have some not-so-appropriate themes for a younger audience.

One suggestion for another recently translated book and one set in an interesting locale: Let the Right One In by John Lindqvist is a really good vampire story, although somewhat gruesome as any good vampire story should be. Child44 is a pretty good mystery story set in the Stalinist-e ...

... The Little Stranger, which isn't very spooky as yet, but I feel it might be heading that way. I'm hoping to get to Let the Right One In later in the month as it seems more suited to a "global" read than the others, which I just happened to be reading as October started.

Going to re-start Vanish by Tess Gerritsen---enjoyed Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist

I just read Let the right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, which was a Sweedish translation. It was very well written and translated. It has horror, gore, mystery, love, and a great cast of intereasting characters. I also recommend Entering Hades: The Double life of a serial killer, ...

I am going to start Let the Right One In today (it just arrived) by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

I have Let the Right One In on my wish list (over at amazon) and am thinking it might make an appearance in my challenge for next year.

... list for about two years, just haven't gotten to it yet, so thanks for the heads-up. 13-- Clfisha, I noticed you have Let the Right One In as part of your library--would you recommend it? I was thinking about reading it for part of my 999 challenge, actually, but I'm not a big vampire fan ...

I think I might consider this theme the "reason" I need to buy Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I've been eyeing it off in the bookshop for far too long, and it keeps on getting good recommendations! I've also got the Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko to read...

Let the Right One In, and I'm talking about the most recent version. I am convinced that the American version (which will be called "Let Me In") is going to be absolutely horrible.

I hugely enjoyed Let the right one in. I'm no horror book coneisseur, but to me it felt like a fresh take on the vampire theme, apart from being a good story. It's fairly compulsive reading, though. One of those "just one more chapter" books. Nothing John Ajvide Lindqvist has written since ...

Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist 519 pages Oskar is the typical outside child. Bullied at school, living with his single mum in a boring apartment on a boring housing estate, he is fed up with life and he's only 12. But then he meets Eli. A 200 year old vampire. A ...

Hi Wonderlake Let The Right One In I thought was brilliant but only after I saw the film, I first tried to read it before and had to put it down, just really graphic and as I didn't know what to expect and the direction it was going in I just couldn't handle it, but after I saw the film I had ...

Ooh I have Let the Right One In- I got it for my birthday in April- how was it ? I was thinking of reading it soon because it's just come out on DVD so there's ads all over for it... have you seen the film ? (I haven't).

The Collector by John Fowles gave me the creeps and I second DrNeut on his suggestons of Drood and Let The Right One In. Although I haven't finished Drood yet. And for a sense of things slowly creeping to a nasty end I can recommend A kind of intimacy by Jenn Ashworth, nothing ...

Thanks ljbwell Coincidentally, I was looking at Let the Right One In in a bookshop the other day and decided not to buy it - maybe I'll look again. The Tandoori Elk is completely new to me - so far as I can tell its not published in English yet, but the title is pretty unforgettable so I'll ...

38. Let The Right One In

... what I read there. As for Swedish crime, I think being so surrounded by it, I actually try to avoid it. :-) I loved Let the right one in, but that is vampire, not trad crime - though a lot of similarities. My other fave is a) quirky and b) not in English (keep an eye out for Zac O'Yeah's ...

Story of the Eye by Georges Bataille is disturbing--I read it in college and I was amused. Also, Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist is disturbing--it was recently made into a movie and both are very, very good. Another weird, kind of disturbing book I can think of is Troll: ...

Let the Right One In was very good. I have to agree with #71: Creepy, touching and unsettling. Though it wasn't terrifying, it did show me one thing that too many American horror movies do that really doesn't work: the over reliance on something popping out of the side of the screen ...

... a serious fan of the original, and not into anything genre, do leave it alone. I'm being seriously tempted by Let The Right One In at the bookshop, but have always had a more urgent book to buy...

I just saw Let the Right One In. I really wish it had been subtitled instead of dubbed - I think a lot of the pacing would have been improved with the original actors' intonations. It was, weird though it sounds, a really sweet movie, though, and worth the watch.

... such a likable guy in his other roles, was terrific as the amoral crazy in The Vanishing. Netflix is shipping Let the Right One In and The Unborn. We should have 'em tomorrow or the next day.

I dislike Marvel Zombies too ;-) I don't think I found it quite as good as Let the Right One In, but I think that's a mostly personal thing as I did not gel with the characters as much.

I'm looking forward to reading both of Lindqvist's books, just have to get some other books out of the way first.

I really enjoyed Let the Right One In and I love Zombies in about every facet (except Marvel Zombies) so I might have to give Handling the Undead a shot.

Oh Let The Right One In was just precious. Great book. Right now I'm reading Out by Natsuo Kirino. It may not be classified as strictly horror but there are some pretty horrific actions by the main characters so far. Quite an enjoyable read, I hope it doesn't disappoint at the end.

I've been eager for Handling the Undead to be available in the US. I loved Let the Right One In. I guess I'll just have to be patient or open up the pocket book. Regardless it looks great. I just ordered two Greg F. Gifune books: The Bleeding Season and Children of Chaos. After ...

i've been wanting to see let the right one in for a while now. But we've gone off of our netflix viewing for a while now and need to start watching some good flix again.

>183, Have you seen/read Let the Right One In? It is a Swedish book/movie (I believe the film is available on Netflix instant viewing) that is a slightly different take on the whole vampire thing. Might provide a break from the drek - I'll admit it, I've read a bunch of YA vampire novels, but ...

Let the Right One In was a great book and a decent movie. As is usually the case, the book is deeper than the movie, but the visuals in the movie were great. I whole-heartedly recommend both (with the caveat that, yeah, the dubbing could have been better).

#130 I really must get on and read Let the right one in so I can get on to the second book, they sound right up my alley. #132 This is about the fourth great review I've read for Nocturnes so I'm going to have to look out for that as well! edit: touchstones

Judy, did you read Let the right one in? I'm adding this to my list, I really enjoyed his first book and the movie as well.

... up on your threads and happily most of the books you've been recommending are already on my must-read list. I have both Let the right one in and Blindness home from the library at the moment.

Right now I'm reading Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It has moved from spooky to gruesome as I'm nearing the end. I'd say it is a good read. The writing is eloquent, the story thought-provoking. I wouldn't rave about it but I'd definitely recommend it - especially if you like ...

50. Let the right one in by J.A.Lindqvist This is a sad, desolated story. Oskar (a boy who is bullied at school and lives in a poor area of the city) befriends Eli whom ( unknown to him) is a child vampire who lives with a paedophile. These two unhappy children are surrounded by adults who ...

#87--I just saw the movie version of Let the Right One In. Let me know how you like the book. It was an interesting take on a vampire stuck in a child's body.

... in New Orleans by Dan Baum Death in a Strange Country by Donna Leon (Hope the second is as good as the first) Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist I wish I could just read books all day these are so appealing to me!

I basically agree with your entire review of Let the Right One In for both the book and movie. Although you have to admit they made Hakan a lot more deep in the novel than the movie. In the movie you don't really get why he is doing what he is doing (or at least I didn't).

... reading phase was kickstarted by him! Liam just read Dark Calling so I have that waiting for me. I'll be reading Let the right one in as soon as my library has it for me.

#6 book for me is John Ajvide Lindqvist's Let the Right One In and it is UNREAL! I saw the film the other day, and was told that the book had so much more narrative, and a subplot as well, so I read it really quickly last week and LOVED it. I also bought his next book which is about zombies (or ...

avatiakh - I hope you enjoy it! I just finished Let the Right One In. It doesn't really fit any of my categories but I thought I would just mention it here. It is about a young troubled Swedish teen who finds out his newest friend and neighboor is a vampire. The story is from the point of ...
