The Experts Book of Garden Hints: Over 1,500 Organic Tips and Techniques…

I've seen a lot of books entitled "gardening hints" or something similar, but this is the first one worth keeping. Most hint books are difficult to use because either they fail to organize at all or they digress, e.g. veering off into multiple unrelated uses for some common substance or item, and if you ever want to find a hint again you are out of luck. This one is organized pretty much like a straightforward guide to gardening, and if you want to get some suggestions about (say) growing beans, you turn to the section on vegetables and there they are in alphabetical order: flip, flip, there you are. And the suggestions are quite useful. Even an experienced gardener is likely to find something new and worth trying. Each chapter ends with a list of the experts who contributed to it, and their (impressive) credentials. This is a book to keep handy on the reference shelf. ( )
