Seven friends of a forest; Richard, Rachel, Jimbo, Milton, Luke, Knot, and Rojo, find that a company is going to destroy their home in four days. They attempt to talk to those in charge, but to no avail. Time is running out, and they need to come up with a big plan; when a flyer about robotic dinosaurs smacks Rojo in the face, they have it. They build a dinosaur out of sticks, vines, leaves, logs, and "borrowed burlap". After scaring some humans away, a struggle inside the dinosaur cause it to fall apart, and the seven expect the humans to yell out of anger, but really...it's out of excitement. The animals are considered endangered, and get to keep their home. Quite possibly the cutest environmentalism book ever written in the history of children's lit and/or the green movement. Milton, an extinct snake with a rattle that breaks off intermittently, two crabby-faced punching rabbits, and blue-prints for building your very own dinosaur. It may not get any adorable-er than this, people. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

A few problems with this book: there's a weird mix of make-believe and reality. I can imagine having a hard time trying to explain what's real and what's imaginary to a little kid. Also, the book says the snake is extinct, but it's obviously not if there's one living in the woods. It should've said the people THOUGHT he was extinct.
I'm giving this three stars because I really like the illustrations, but I'd only give the writing two. ( )
