This was a great book, I would encourage anyone to read this book, particularly in October. There is a variety of stories and they are all told well. I love the way the author tells these stories. ( )

This is a small book of short stories. It is written for young adults. I was expecting it to be scarier based on the quotes on the book:"It'll make you want to sleep with the lights on." - Teen People"Vande Velde again chills, charms, moves and startles with her customary effectiveness" - Kirkus ReviewsHowever I suppose the stories may be scarier for a teenager. My favourites were the first and last story which not coincidently were the scariest of them all. (There are only 7 stories in all.) The fifth one was pretty good as well.I'd be interested in what a young adult though of the book (16 and under more specifically.) ( )

Being Dead has seven stories about dead people who have not quite moved on. Some of the stories are better than others. I think that Being Dead was the weakest story; Drop by Drop and October Chill were much better.

The stories were creepy. Very much like Stephen King for a younger set of readers (no sex and little gore).

"My brother, Kevin, may or may not have come back from the dead for any one of several contradictory reasons, depending on which one of my relatives you assume is most reasonable. Personally, I wouldn't consider any of us particularly reliable."

Being Dead is a collection of nine short stories dealing with, well, being dead. All nine are ghost tales...several of them chilling, others sad, many are told from an unique point of view. Brenda's getting phone calls from a disconnected phone line. Emily's having an unearthly romance. And Marjorie won't stop dancing. Fans of spooky tales will love, love, LOVE this collection!

This is a collection of short horror stories relating to death and ghosts. The first one features a girl who is about to die of a brain tumour meeting a boy at the Old time theme park where she works. She falls in love with him, only to discover he is actually a ghost and therefore, when she dies, they will be together

Bokbeskrivning

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0152049126, Paperback)

A sixteen-year-old will give anything to be with her true love--even though he died two hundred years ago. . . . A sopping-wet little dead girl stalks a teen who had nothing to do with her death--honest! . . . A heartless man dances with his wife--after she's passed away.
From the hilarious to the horrific, master storyteller Vivian Vande Velde explores the world of the dead--and the undead--in this surprisingly moving collection of unnerving tales.
