Another great installment in the series about Jacky Faber, ship's boy, fine lady, privateer, and possible slave? This completely unbelievable adventure (really, how much trouble can one girl get into?) is highly entertaining. L. A. Meyer has no trouble keeping up the status quo with Jacky's misadventures and does not disappoint in the fourth book of the series. ( )

We liked this one too. The stuff about slavers was very interesting. Some sexual content. Jacky and the girls from Mistress Pim's have been kidnapped and are to be sold into slavery. Jacky devises a plan to save them. We haven't finished it yet but our big question is why Amy was not kidnapped too.

The fourth book in the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer. Slightly darker, as Jacky gets older. In this adventure the ladies of the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls are abducted by a notorious slaver in the guise of a pleasure-boat captain. Jacky & her arch nemesis, Clarissa Worthington Howe, must join forces to save themselves & the rest of teh girls from the slave markets of North Africa. ( )

These books are simply amazing. The characters are complex and interesting, the adventures heart-stopping and Meyer leaves you constantly wanting more. The book once again ends with a cliffhanger that made me want to run to every library to see if they have the latest copy. Jacky is a girl who you can't help but love although her ways are a bit... peculiar. I hope this series never ends! ( )

I love all of these books and this may be one of the best!!! Different from the other books in a surprising and funny way.
When Jacky and the girls are kidnapped by slave traders they have to band together to get out of it! JAcky has to use all her wit, cunning-and patience- to get these girls back home! ( )

Slow, slow start but fabulous through the middle and end. Can't wait till the next adventure... ( )

This is the first of the Bloody Jack books that really has a single cohesive plot that runs the length of the novel - Jacky and her classmates get kidnapped by a slaver intent on selling them into harems in North Africa, and must work together to survive and escape. Even with only the single plot going, there are a lot of girls and a lot of details to their plan to take in and remember. Still, everything moved quickly (especially given the size of the book), and both the reactions of the various girls to their captivity and their resourcefulness in freeing themselves were interesting to read - the snobby Clarissa Howe is the most interesting character, by the end. The only problem with this book was that I didn't realize that it wasn't the end of the series, and now I'll have to wait for the next one to be published! ( )

In the fourth installment of the Bloody Jack series Jacky returns to finishing school in Boston to escape charges of piracy. As she waits for Jaimy to come meet her, she finds herself in trouble again. She and her classmates are abducted from a school picnic and held in a slaver bound for North Africa. Jacky works to organize the girls to keep their spirit up and plots their escape.

I was impressed with this installment. Meyer finally seems to be taking his heroine seriously. She has matured greatly (though she still has not lost her free and easy ways). This rang truer than the last in the series. The emotional development of both Jacky and the other girls actually reminded me a lot of some of Tamora Pierce's novels. I was also glad to see Meyer approach the problem of rape with less of an obtuse male outlook (as he has in the former books). By turns inspiring and hilarious, this is a wonderful addition to one of my favorite series. ( )
