The notion of the metainterface and the critical study of interaction in cultural and societal contexts remind us that there are many ways to think about technological futures. Andersen and Pold provide an inspiring and eye-opening introduction to digital art criticism and indicate its significance to interaction design.
A collection of chapters providing a broad view on notions of criticism in interaction design, mostly based on approaches drawn from the tradition of criticism in the humanities. As in many collections, the reader might feel that some chapters are more relevant than others; personally, I appreciate the editors' structuring of the field of interaction aesthetics through five prepositions: back into history, through the human senses, behind the interface, down into the machine and out into society and culture.… (mer)
