Straightforward thriller that flows well. Annoyingly, the first half of the book is devoted to the detectives stumbling around and achieving nothing of value. Despite obvious hints and clues the protagonist just paints herself into a corner amidst the reader's groans of frustration.

No surprises or twists to be found anywhere, everything is signposted clearly to a fizzly end.

“All I want is a piece of you.” - says the creepy ass killer. Yeash...

Well, this one does not stack up well with the previous two. Yes, the serial killer is creepy, but he also sort of has a point! Not that his actions are justifiable, but he's not as bat-shit crazy as I like! Also, it's so obvious who the killer is, that Rizzo looks pretty lame in taking so long to figure it out. And honestly, I could have cared less about all of her personal problems, which take up a big chunk of this book. For my money, book #1 is the jewel of the three, and this one, well, I wouldn't re-read it.… (mer)

This book turned out to be most everything I expected. It is a page-turning police procedural that, while it is laden with some cliches and less-than-memorable characters, still managed to keep me reading. The heroine of the book rather annoyed me in that she didn't seem to be a thorough detective and made some really, really terrible decisions over the course of the book. While certain aspects of the villain seemed cliche at turns, I did find his story to be intriguing. I also appreciated that there were a few aspects of the book that were not entirely cliche (mostly relating to the ending). All in all, it seemed a decent first effort, certainly enough to make me consider picking up the sequel at some point.… (mer)

More than a Soldier is a really good book about a soldier and his journey to survive. We meet Angelo first in a train car, with a few of his buddies and comrades. The story then goes back to when he signs up and what his family life is like. Will he make back to his battalion?

We get to follow Angelo and struggles through the military. We see how the Germans treat their prisoners and how rough life was behind enemy lines. The Germans are taking their prisoner through some extreme things.

The author did a wonderfully great job. With this being more of a Nonfiction book, It really told the story on each and every page. It was well written. Does the 1st Battalion survive or is Angelo the only survivor? You will want to read the book. You do get a somewhat of a tour of Italy.
