Nice account of travels to Eastern Turkey and some neighboring countries. The story is focused on the flood myth and the search for Noah's ark, but sometimes turns into a regional history and mountain hiking adventure novel. I liked the regional history and cultural exchange parts more than the built up but ultimately uneventful hike up Mt. Ararat.

Travel writer Rick Antonson and his friend, Peter, rent a Mustang convertible and take off from Chicago to drive from Chicago to Los Angeles driving as many miles as possible of old Route 66. This is the dream of every Baby Boomer who watched the "Route 66" TV show in the 1960's,and it's nice to know that except for about 450 miles, they were able to make the whole trip on the old Mother Road, and along the way, just maybe found the best of America too.

Meh. It had it moments, and I appreciated the history lessons, but it seemed like they were so intent on following the parts of the road that don’t really exist that they missed the parts that do. Driving a Mustang onto a muddy cow path is always a stupid idea, even if that cow path was part of Rt 66 at one time.
