This is a collection of essays on the contexts and forms of affective piety amongst Italian women from the thirteenth through to the mid sixteenth centuries. Together, they demonstrate the tremendous vigour of women's religious lives. There's nothing revolutionary here, and given my chronological interests, the first half of the book was more interesting to me than the latter, but it's still worth at least skimming through nonetheless.
