Wicked with Him by Heather Boyd
Scandalous Brides #1

A whispered scandalous request by Lady Amity Sweet is a BIG ask that is granted by Roman Crawford. Little did the two realize that a few minutes in a closet at a ball would impact both of their lives so very much.

What I liked:
* Amity: bright, lively, suppressed by her family, downtrodden and perhaps abuse by her brother, wants to avoid being ‘sold’ to her brother’s creepy friend as a brood mare, takes matters into her own hands
* Roman: thwarted in love by Amity’s brother, bent on revenge, an adept and skillful lover, younger son, wealthy, rather taken with Amity, more than his rakish reputation indicates
* Fairbridge: heir to the Ravenswood Duchy, wily, astute, manipulator, has best interests of those he cares for in hand, there for Amity when she needed him – can’t wait for his story next
* Thinking that maybe some of Amity’s cousins might show up in future books
* That Amity’s conniving brother and his not so nice wife were exposed and thwarted and hopefully sent packing
* The chemistry between Amity and Roman and their journey to happiness

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like – especially George, Melody, and the old Duke

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Dancing with Desire

If you love historical romances, want to try some new authors, and want a nice collection of books in one volume to begin a few series with books already written to read next…this book might be just the on for you. I haven’t finished every book in the anthology but do plan to over time and have a feeling I will reread a few of them, too.

With a baker’s dozen books collected to choose from it is like having thirteen donuts and not knowing which tempting treat to bite into first. I loved some and immediately started reading the next in the series. Did I have a favorite? Perhaps…always love Tracy Sumner’s books, thoroughly enjoyed Suzanna Medeiros’s book, Darcy Burke’s story was a bit lighter hearted, and Amy Quinton’s book that I am currently reading has a wicked aunt and cousin that could be related to Cinderella’s stepmother and daughters.

Did I like this book? Yes
Who would I recommend it to? Anyone interested in trying a new author or two…or three
NOTE: On many vendors the book is FREE so do check it out!

Silver Bells by Heather Boyd
Distinguished Rogues #17

What a nice way to get away from it all today by reading a heartwarming romance with a happily ever after. Not too long and not too short…just right in every way.

What I liked:
* Ruby: married for love, lost her family, had a son, then lost her husband only to have to worry about how to keep herself and her son safe. Her choices were limited but she did the best she could with what she had.
* Hector: a scoundrel with a heart of gold. Charming, a good brother, wealthy, a lord, not in the market for a wife…until he was. I liked him.
* Pip: Ruby’s son: a typical four-year-old boy loved by his mother and able to charm Hector.
* Parker: Hector’s valet, an ex-soldier, wiser than most, a great defender, looked out for Hector and those Hector cared about
* Samuel Blackwell: I kind of would like to know more about him and wonder if he had a book of his own in this series.
* That the bad guys didn’t get away with their evil schemes
* That the story, though short, had everything required in a romance.

What I didn’t like:
* Mr. Roper: Ruby’s father-in-law was someone to get away from as soon as possible.
* Vyne: reprehensible and alone due to his choices

Did I enjoy this story? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

Pleasures of the Night by Heather Boyd
Distinguished Rogues #16

Delightful escape…took me away from the woes of the world as I immersed myself in the story of Eugenia and Teddy…big smiles and warm happy feelings as I remember the story again!

What I liked:
* The openness of the women that were Eugenia’s family and friends
* Eugenia’s backstory and how it played into her current situation
* The way Eugenia stated what she wanted and managed to intrigue Teddy
* Eugenia’s determination, intuition, intrepid pursuit of truth, and lusty nature
* Teddy’s hidden side that proved to be a whole lot more interesting than many thought it would be.
* Teddy’s ability to please a woman
* The way Teddy listened and then took action with Eugenia and with the wall/wild flowers
* The interactions between Eugenia and Teddy
* The way the impostor was eventually exposed
* The gifts that Teddy gave to Eugenia
* Wondering who will come next in the series
* Not having to have read any of the previous books to enjoy this one

What I didn’t like:
* The impostor’s actions…but then I was meant NOT to like them.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely
