A graphic novel without words, that depicts a day in the life of a tiger. They hunt for a meal, avoid animals that could hurt them, and are observed by other residents of the jungle.

The illustrations here are absolutely stunning, down to every leaf and raindrop. The movement of the animals is captured perfectly. The “facial expressions” are a bit exaggerated but that’s necessary for a comic. However, the story is not great. This must be an especially stupid tiger because they spend a lot of time chasing (and missing) one tapir, and then kill a leopard that attacks them but don’t bother to eat any of it, then can’t manage to avoid a lusty elephant that they could have heard coming from a mile away. In the end they eat a human, which tigers only do when they are very desperate. Why was this tiger so desperate when it didn’t eat an already-dead leopard? It doesn’t make much sense. This book was originally published in French and it’s not stated who translated the few sentences of writing at the beginning, explaining why the series is called “love”, but they don’t make any sense. It was beautiful to look at and I’m not mad I read it, but I don’t think I’ll continue with the other 3 books in the series.… (mer)

I have been yearning to grab some more graphic novels with fantasy vibes, and this book did it!

If you're looking for an absolutely beautiful book that gives off Disney-fantasy vibes (think Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty - some of those gorgeous classics), and will make you smile then grab Brindille. I was honestly surprised how engaged I was with this book. I needed to binge it and putting it down hurt. I absolutely loved every second I spent in this world and I want more. The sketches are fantastic, the colours are beautiful and the story is just so wicked. The story can be a little... hard to follow and odd. But it was a beautiful one, so I'll give it that.

Do you want a niche book that's got style? Love: The Mastiff is a story without words! It's a graphic novel following a mastiff on his adventure. The book is packed full of absolutely gorgeous and stunning illustrations. It's breathtaking and absolutely lovely. I wasn't expecting a book with no words, but I was floored.

The book is sad - a hunting Mastiff's owner dies and he must find his way back to civilization. The dog fights valiantly to protect his owner, but unfortunately... It doesn't work. There's lots of pain and struggling in it, so don't let your heart be squashed.

I highly recommend this book if you're looking for something a little different! What a powerful story.
