Om författaren

Blandine Calais-Germain is the celebrated author of Anatomy of Movement, Anatomy of Movement: Exercises, and The Female Pelvis: Anatomy and Exercises. Her lifelong involvement with dance, both as a performer and teacher, led to an interest in other physical disciplines and to more formal study of visa mer the complex and integrated movements of the body. She studied physiotherapy at the French School of Orthopedics and Massage in Paris. Subsequently, she developed an innovative method for teaching the physical structures of anatomy in relation to movement, which she teaches at workshops in France to students from all over the world. visa färre

Recensioner

I loved this book. I read it the summer before I took an intense biology course and it really helped me to understand the material. I still have it 4 years later!

'Calais-Germain truly understands the musculoskeletal system, its functional anatomy and potential dysfunctions. This book is a 'must-have' for bosy workers.' - John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M. Author, Craniosacral Therapy

'Anatomy of Movement fills a great clinical need. No other book describes function and structural realities of movement so clearly and simply.' - Michael Smith, M.D. Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center, New York

'Our students love it! The consistent sequencing of information about each bosy region helps students develop a thinking process about that part, i.e., 'this is how it's put together, so this is how it works.'' - Pat Archer, M.S., L.M.P., A.T.C. Director fo Education, Brenneke School of Massage, Seattle

Anatomy of Movement is a dynamic, integrated approach to the study of th physical structures of the musculoskeletal system and their functional relationship to the movements of the human body.

In clear and consise text illustrated with more than a thousand graphic drawings, the author takes the reader on a lively tour of the muscles, bones, ligaments and joints of the arms, legs and trunk.

The focus throughout the book is on anatomy not for its own sake, but in its functional relationship to the actual movements of the body in dance, exercise and other physical disciplines.

Blandine Calais-German's life long involvement with dance, both as a performer and teacher, eventually led to more formal study fo the complex, integrated movements of the body. From 1977 to 1980 she studies physiotherapy at th French School of Orthopedics and Massage in Paris.

In physiotherapy, body movements are analyzed both in terms of their neurophysiologial and mecahnical aspects, which allows for a better understanding of the actual mechanisms of movement. From her work with dance and physiotherapy, the author developed an innovative method for teaching the physical stuctures of anatomy in relation to movement.

Blandine Calais-Germain presently lives in a small town in the south of France with her husban and their two children.
