Illustrations: watercolor and acrylic. This book is informing the readers how a baby grows in a mommy's tummy. It discusses and gives pictures of what the baby looks like at every month. The book says how big the baby is and what the baby can do at every stage of growth. This book is informational because all of the information is correct and is consistent throughout the book. Age appropriateness: intermediate.
so much better than telling your first born that a stork planted a seed in mommy's tummy.
Great treatment of a subject which some children find mysterious or confusing, and some parent try to avoid!

Review/Critique: I think this book was a good, modest example of pregnancy. It was not super detailed but gave factual information about the development of a baby that young children could understand. I also really liked this book because there were tones of details and graphics that could be relatable for children. This books fits the genre of informational books because it is an educational book that contains facts. Although there is a story, the facts and information is the main point of the book.
Comments on Use: I would use this book in a kindergarten classroom if my students were becoming interested in pregnancy (through play and conversations). I think this would also be a beneficial book to share with the class (with parent approval) because a lot of students this age have younger siblings and start to have questions. This book could also transition into a unit on animals and life.
