Marc Connelly (1890–1980)

To the modern taste this play is culturally appropriated, and very condescending. However, as it was at its time, quite a groundbreaker. It was produced on Broadway in 1930, and had the first all--black cast that area had seen. it won a pulitzer, and was often discussed as a worthy rendition of rural black culture a step above that of the Uncle Remus stories of Chandler. It was amusing to the 16 year -old me.

L'histoire est celle d'une sorcière (interprétée par la jeune Veronica Lake, pleine de vivacité) et de son père (Cecil Kellaway, excellent) qui, après avoir étés brûlés au 17ème siècle, décident de se venger trois siècles plus tard d'un descendant de celui qui les a condamnés au bûcher.
Film américain du réalisateur français René Clair, "I married a witch" est une comédie sympathique et plutôt réussie, que l'on peut encore regarder avec plaisir 80 ans plus tard.

Veronica Lake playing a joyfully chaotic character is an easy sell for me. A lot about this movie is clunky, but I don't care, it's fun.

The point? Not sure. More of an SNL sketch than a play. Didn't do much for me.
