This was a book that I found myself falling deeper and deeper into the spell that this author masterfully wove. To say it was intense would be an understatement. This author doesn't shy away from the gore and violence of this lifestyle. Nothing was sugar coated and I LOVED that.
Great characters, some that had been from previous books that I haven't read but I will be doing so asap. This was a great start to a new series.

Normally, I'm a huge fan of this author. For some reason, I didn't connect with the characters in this book like I normally do. I'm going to say that this was just a one-off. Even though I struggled with this book, I'm still a fan of this author and appreciate her hard work.
The cute epilogue took this from a 3.5- 4 stars.

This book was included in Then There Was You: A Single Parent Collection anthology. It was one of my favorites in the collection. There was a level of complexity in the story that really drew me in and kept me invested in the whole story. My heart hurt for the characters and what they both endured. I definitely want to go back and read the continuing stories from this series now because the author is that good at characterization.

The only reason for 2 stars is I didn't find editing errors as far as spelling, wrong words and typos of that sort.
There is a heavy dose of juvenile dialog and behavior by all characters including parents. Heavy dose of run on internal dialog. Contradicting dialog. Even the type of mc club Cain is a part of contradicts itself. And by the time I dnf'ed it was starting to be repetitive.
The female mc cries constantly.
Reads like a young adult wrote it.
I can't take it anymore.
