I received this through the Kindle Scout Program to read and review. After reading this book, my first reaction was that, true to form, things are not always what they seem. A year after being wrongly accused and exonerated of the murder of his ex-wife and young son, it is time for Brafford Reid to move on with his life. His friends agree. Thus, when Emily comes into his life, Reid begins a relationship with her. Their feelings are mutual, and they marry after only a few months, despite misgivings his friends have that it is too big a step too soon. Nevertheless, Reid and Emily are quite content to be married. However, Emily becomes stressed out by her job as a teacher of young children, wanting to do everything perfectly—which causes some heavy strain on their marriage and relationship and leads to near disaster. Both appear to be working through things until some events and actions cause everyone, including Reid, to sit back and take notice. Can things ever be the way they were during his and Emily’s courtship? Can they get back on track?

This was a pretty good book that moved along at a steady and often fast pace. Reid and Emily, the two main characters, were well developed and realistically portrayed. Of course, Reid had problems—who wouldn’t, with his history? Still, it was obvious that Emily was definitely ready to accept him for what he was and, like him, was trying to make the best of things. The story moves through some crazy twists and turns, culminating in a rather surprising ending. I will admit, I had not totally thought of this ending, though I felt something like this there with me, just not on the surface. This is a good book for a reader who enjoys surprising but definitely satisfying endings. The author can easily pick up Emily and Reid’s story in another book, which may well be the plan. However, even if this is the end of their story, it is a solid, satisfying one that any reader should enjoy.… (mer)

Another great read by L.N. Cronk. I can't beleive how much I care about these characters.

This 4th book to me is about Dave's heart - love for a new child, jealously, stepping away from God's direction, hurt, anger.

We continue to watch Dave and Laci's children grow and their friendships with Tanner, Jordon, Mike and his wife, Charlotte and Mrs. White.

A few unexpected things occur in this book too which just makes it harder to put down.

I felt that (and I sure is it addressed in the future books) Tanner's relationship with Christ is still very unclear and that Dave isn't doing all that he can to minister to Tanner but I also know how hard it is to minister to your friends. and family.

Keep up the good work! Looking forward to book 5, The Other Mother.… (mer)
