Allmänna fakta

The strength of this book was definitely its diversity, so while the first handful of stories are all white and in the UK, there are also stories from all over the world, both inside and outside of Christian contexts, and with wildly differing views on gender. There are authors who seem entirely wedded to the gender binary and authors on a mission to queer all of it they can. Very "beginner friendly" in that you don't have to have much or any familiarity with trans issues or terminology in order to follow right along. Somehow there ended up being a lot more dysphoria and trauma than I expected, as each essay put their euphoric moment in context of all that went before. My favorite essay was definitely "The Radical Vulnerability of Trans Sex," as I loved the way the author, Katherine Cross, writes. I will have to seek out more of her writing after this!… (mer)

Absolutely fantastic book. I'm a fan of Laura via her youtube channel and this is the first book I've read. Absolutely amazing; funny, engaging and an amazing satirization of the games industry, well paces just fantastic. And a really interesting experience because as someone who follows gaming I did recognize some of the cases she brings up, it's not ALL fictional (just with details changed). Don't skip on this one.

This book should be in every library. It’s a very simple but heartwarming look at a child knowing they are not who they are made to look like. In this case, Nisha knows she’s a girl and it’s now up to the rest of the world to know as well. The way this book uses a monster to show Nisha‘s feelings, and how that monster grows when people take actions both purposely and accidentally to mis-gender her is a metaphor that works for the anxiety that is really felt. The story is simply wonderful and the help for parents in the back are phenomenal. The illustrations are adorable and attention grabbing. This should be a standard book in every school and public library.… (mer)

A collection of essays by trans, non-binary and intersex writers from around the world.
As the title suggests, the pieces focus on the good, the moments of pure joy, the positive aspects of being gender non-conforming in these delightful times.
I found nearly every essay to be relatable in one way or another (i.e. I took so many notes). What I took from this was that no matter a transperson’s country of origin, age, or direction of transition (so to speak) we have more in common with one another than not.
The only quibble I have with the book is that editor has a number of essays. They were all good, but it would have been nice to hear more voices from across the spectrum.
