I heartily recommend this short book to any of us reading addicts, whether you want a good laugh or just something quick you just can't go wrong with this one! The publisher's blurb covers a lot so I won't do a recap, but I can certainly guarantee that that you will laugh at least as hard as I did!

REVIEW: “We need something to terrify the population; ratchet up the fear index. Drive our loyalists to the polls, and keep the oppo trembling under their beds.” In a hotbed of deception, Kat tries to track down answers to a series of attacks on the nation’s roadways. Nick just wants to be left alone. A widow struggling with his own PTSD, he is trying to get federal assistance for himself and his daughter. Forging an unlikely alliance with Kat, his daughter, his father-in-law, and a rag tag crew of veterans, they race against time. The ramifications of this very possible future are staggering. There are a few times that the changing voices of the many characters is confusing. And maybe it is meant to add to the chaos. An intriguing story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: When Katherine 'Kat' Sinclair, a bright young PhD candidate, is hired by the Department of Homeland Security she doesn't know she'll be caught up in a conspiracy that will change America forever.

“Day exhibits an unerring ability to build suspense.” Publisher's Weekly

After the nation's highways are crippled by a series of horrific tanker-truck explosions, foreign terrorists are swiftly blamed. The Vice President and the cabinet declare the President unfit to serve, declare martial law, and take Congress into Protective Custody.

Only Kat Sinclair and a middle-aged veteran with PTSD stand between them and absolute power.

Nick Paloma, single parent of a teenage daughter, dispatches town trucks for the Washington D.C. Parking Authority, and builds weapons for the police department in his spare time.
When his daughter is snatched by a pair of Homeland Security thugs, Kat and Nick enlist his father-in-law and his fellow Vietnam veterans to save her. And the nation.

Kat's too smart for her own good. After she hacked the IRS, and put the tax returns of congress on Ebay, the FBI turned her over to Homeland Security. She is forced to use her computer skills to identify dissidents or go to prison. Little does Kat know she will soon be joining them in the FEMA concentration camps.

The vice president—code name DEERSLAYER—knows his party has little chance of retaining the presidency, so he uses a CIA black ops Cuban-American to engineer a false flag attack on the nation. The VP then directs his Department of Homeland security to identify opposition members of the press, business, and congress. They will languish in FEMA camps while he rewrites the Constitution.

Nick's father-in-law flew helicopters in Vietnam, and now pilots the traffic helicopter for the local news channel. With his poker-playing pals they fly to the rescue at a thrilling climax that includes an aerial gunfight with a Cessna.

satire, farce, k-9, law-enforcement, situational-humor, verbal-humor, short

A real laugh riot! The publisher's blurb is somewhat adequate, and this reality break is too short for spoilers. Just join the gigglefest!
