Anthony Doerr was born on October 27, 1973 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the author of The Shell Collector, About Grace, Four Seasons in Rome, Memory Wall, and All the Light We Cannot See. His fiction has won four O. Henry Prizes and has been anthologized in several anthologies. He has won the Barnes visa mer and Noble Discover Prize, the Rome Prize, the New York Public Library's Young Lions Award, the National Magazine Award for Fiction, three Pushcart Prizes, two Pacific Northwest Book Award, three Ohioana Book Awards, the 2010 Story Prize, which is considered the most prestigious prize in the U.S. for a collection of short stories, and the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award, which is the largest prize in the world for a single short story. His novel, All the Light We Cannot See, won the Adult Fiction Award for the Indies Choice Book Awards in 2015, the International Book of the Year at the ABIA Awards and the Pulitzer Prizes for Fiction in 2015. Bara att stämma in i hyllningskörerna. En fantastiskt vacker och gripande bok. Sorg, grymhet men också godhet och kärlek. Tyvärr var jag nära att avbryta lyssnandet pga av Uppläsaren Magnus Roosman som tyvärr är kass på denna typ av böcker. Han har en betoning och inlevelseförmåga som är bedrövlig för att vara av en skådespelare.

En seg historia som aldrig riktigt tar fart. Fullt av transportsträckor där tankarna försvinner iväg någon annanstans och fångas endast tillbaka av irriterande stavfel i texten. Jämfört med "Ljuset vi inte ser", som jag tyckte var mycket bra, är den här bara en blek skugga.

En underbar berättelse där ett antal öden vävs samman under andra världskrigets fasor. Balanserar bra mellan vemod och lycka utan att det blir för mycket. Ibland lite väl mycket skrivet som ett filmmanus, men å andra sidan skulle det säkert bli en bra film. Jag rekommenderar boken varmt.
