Famous Builders of California av Edward F. Dolan
An excellent book about several figures who feature prominently in the founding and establishment of California as a State within the United States of America. This short Young Adult book has clear and intelligent writing which does not speak down to adolescent readers. These biographies are all about males so that would make this edition obsolete in modern times but they are all true influencers of their times and places. California was originally sparsely inhabited by native tribes before it was subsequently clamed by Spain and then Mexico. Dolan does not explain the current Baja, Mexico and how it evolved from the larger Baja, California. I would recommend this book to all people living in California or anyone wishing to visit to understand the background for what they currently see.
