I just finished up my 8 week guide on how to make my home warmer and more me, or well us, but you all know how home decorating goes in the Husband's eyes. I actually expedited the process a bit, but the results are still beautiful, I can imagine how much more so they would be if I used the full 8 weeks. I adored this book, my Husband and I just bought out first home back in May, and while we have a few things, we lacked some of the stuff that makes a home homey. I used this book exactly as prescribed and my house looks and feels better for it. 'Comfort Living' is a super quick and easy read, great photography, and comes with a small journal to document the process and journey. If you feel your home is lacking the 'home' feel, try this book out for yourself, you won't regret it.… (mer)

Comfort Living is a gorgeous interactive book about how to rearrange your life and home. This book is a practical home guide for people with very busy lives. It is a book that tells you how to use our 'treasures' in a way that transforms our lives for the better and at the same time remove obstacles that keeps us from being happy.

The book is written in four parts, the first part is about taking a look at ourselves and our living spaces. It guides us on how to think of our treasures and what obstacles we may have. In other words it is looking at our living area and deciding if what we have is something we want to keep in our lives. We all have over the years created clutter. In other words we need to streamline our lives in order to be happy. If that means getting rid of things you never use, clothing, books or anything else that is causing clutter and dissatisfaction.Part two is about the light that comes from within ourselves that will encourage us to have the lifestyle we want.Part three is called Little Things and basically is how to "live fully in the present, while honoring the past and making way for the future" and adding meaning to everyday objects. The author in part four gives ideas on how to let the outside and nature into our homes. Using light, plants, flowers and other items to make our home more comforting. The book, in each chapter has areas that you can write down whatever comes to mind while reading the book. The book, within the four parts, is broken down into weeks and what you can do in those weeks along with daily calendars to use to assist in making the changes you may want in your life. Interspersed within the book are beautiful pictures of objects and rooms displaying a homey atmosphere. The author recommends using a journal of your choosing or use the one that she has created to use for obstacles and treasures.

I loved the book, it is filled with ideas, lists, pictures and suggestions on how to accomplish a Comfort Living. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to have simple inexpensive ideas on how to have a more balanced life

I got this terrific little book by Christine Eisner, a little while ago and am feathering my nest. No I am not tearing up the pages, but the tips and ideas in "Comfort Living" are making my inner Martha come out. The photos are beautiful and serene, and I would love to live in them. To smell the candles, lean back on the pillows and just be. It is not really a decorating book, but using what you love, your treasures, doing away with your obstacles, building your own "campfire" for warmth and comfort, making your house into a warm and welcoming home, this book has it all.
There was also a workbook, so the 8 week plan is going to start after the first of the year. I love a home, instead of a house. Even with my admitted messiness, I am striving to make this a loving, warm and wonderful home. To that end, I am getting rid of a lot of "stuff", to clear my obstacles. Going through closets, giving to charity, just lightening my load. This book was the impetus! If you are looking for a balance in the New Year, check this out. It is terrific!

I received this book from Rebecca at Cadence Marketing Group. Thanks so much!
