Linda T. Elkins-Tanton

Useful and easy to read introduction to Jupiter and Saturn, and their moons (which are arguably more interesting). Though this is the revised 2011 edition, it is already a bit out of date with regard to more recently discovered smaller moons (though these are typically uninteresting), and a few advancements on theory.
Despite this it covers all the major areas well:the history of discoveries, temperature and pressures, surface/core composition, magnetic fields, atmosphere, moons, rings, possibilities of life, and the current unknowns.
Good reference book if you want something on this topic.… (mer)
