Kort biografi: Géraldine Elschner est auteure jeunesse et traductrice.
Née de père allemand et de mère française d'origine belge, elle fait ses études d’allemand et de lettres à cheval entre France et Allemagne – Nuremberg, Lille, Göttingen, Sarrebruck, Halle (RDA).
Puis elle suit une formation de bibliothécaire à Strasbourg avec une spécialisation pour la littérature pour enfants. Elle fonde une famille et s’installe en Allemagne où elle commence à traduire des albums.
Après avoir traduit de nombreux livres pour enfants, elle s’est mise à écrire ses propres textes dans lesquels art et Histoire occupent une grande place.
En 1998, elle publie un premier livre aux Éditions Nord-Sud : "Petit Indien Terre-de-Neige". Une bonne cinquantaine de titres ont entre-temps été publiés, tant en allemand qu’en français, et traduits dans une vingtaine de langues.
Mère de trois enfants, elle vit à Heidelberg avec son mari.

Like a Wolf av Géraldine Elschner

This story is about a dog who is lonely, feared, and mistreated, and misunderstood because he looks scary like a wolf. Finally, a man accepts him and they become best friends. This story is a great lesson on not judging people by outer appearances.

Inspired by François Pompon's famous polar bear statue - created between 1923 and 1933, Ours blanc stands in Paris's Musée d'Orsay - Pompon offers an engaging tale of a child interacting with a work of fine art in a museum, bringing the power of the imagination to bear on his experience. The artwork by illustrator Joanna Boillat uses the white spaces of Pompon's body in creative ways, creating straight and curving lines with which the more colorful Leo interacts. Originally published in German (according to WorldCat) as Ein Eisbär im Museum?: Pompon, this sweetly imaginative picture-book has also recently been published in France.
