A simple, graphic guide to how different household objects “work,” ranging from the basic mechanics of staplers to the different jobs different cat body parts do. Lots of fun facts.

A fractured sequel to a classic tale. Everyone has aged, even baby bear (who manages to look like a childish grown bear, could be interesting conversation with older students). Goldilocks feels guilt for wrecking the bears' home many years ago, so much so that she feels compelled to go back and make it pretty.

Doing every single letter of the alphabet would be too much--but highlighting a few letters or two (and showing all of the things they can be) is amazing!!

What a great way to practice early literacy skills with pre-readers!!

This book shows students all of the items that can be seen in your own backyard, what they are, and how they work. Some examples are birds, water hoses, sprinklers and a lot more. I really liked this book because it takes each individual item that can be found in the yard, and really breaks it down explaining what that item is and how that it works and connects to other items in the yard. I would use this book in the classroom and have students pick out things that they see in their own backyard and what they notice about how they work, or how they think that they work.… (mer)
