Kort biografi
His work had appeared in the Portland Review, Orchid, Knock, Opium, Quick Fiction, and other journals. All About Lulu is his first novel.

Jonathan's a happy guy. He like rabbits. He has eight of them... all cute little f*****s with names like Javier and Little Turkey. He lives out in the woods on an island in Puget Sound, where he spends the majority of his time writing and sitting in the bathtub. He makes all his business calls from the bathtub. People are always asking him: "What's that echo? Are you in a bus station?" He says: "No, I'm in my office." Pretty cool, huh? He's developing something I call the sweats to pants ratio (SPR), by which success is measured relative to the days one spends in formal versus casual attire (formal being anything with pockets). By this measure, seven days a week in sweats is the pinnacle of success. He's at about five-to-two right now.

As a syndicated talk radio host, his comedy show "Shaken Not Stirred" was nominated for two Peabody Awards. He has received two Silver Microphones, and two Communicators and was frequently nominated for the Soundie Award.

He is the founder and moderator of the FICTION FILES, a forum for literary discussion.

[4.25] Readers who are intrigued by the concept of reincarnation will likely enjoy this poignant adventure that zigzags through 1,100 years. Evison spins an inventive tale that features a few delightful characters, delivers some surprises and conveys powerful messages about loss, loneliness and love. I disagree with some reviewers who have faulted the novel’s pacing. “Again and Again” held my interest from start to finish, although I concur that some of the plot twists seemed a bit forced. My one major criticism: I’m convinced the ending had so much more potential.… (mer)

I read this one as it is a commonly banned book. I can see why parents are uncomfortable with this book, though I do not support it being banned. There are more than 100 F words and numerous references to the sucking of d*ck.

There were some really solid morals to this story and the levels in which the main character learned them were believable and well done. I do think it could have been done without the overabundance of cursing and d*ck references.

Let kids read within age appropriate guidelines, and have open discussions with them about the topics included.… (mer)

This is a great coming-of-age story. I read it to begin my "Challenged Books Challenge," as it was the 7th most challenged book in the United States and the most challenged book in the state of Arizona for its "sexually explicit" LGBTQ content. As someone who values intellectual freedom and the freedom to read, I hate the idea of the quality story in this book being inaccessible to teens and adolescents who need to hear it because some fascists have decided that LGBTQ content is inappropriate for everyone. I would never restrict my child from reading this book, in fact, I would recommend this book for anyone who finds themselves stuck in a transitional period in life. Fuck the fascists, read Lawn Boy!… (mer)

In the hands of a less talented writer, this book with numerous characters and shifting timelines dating from the mid 19th century to the present, might have been difficult to follow. Jonathan Evison , however, has written a saga that is captivating from the first page. The pursuit of the American dream is chased from the gold rush in California, the construction of the transcontinental railroad to a young man with dreams of playing basketball in the NBA. The forebearers and ancestors of the characters provide a valuable history of the sacrifices and achievements that give an added valuable insight.… (mer)
