Nāhoa is preparing for the Lei day festsival with her grandmother Tutu. However, tutu becomes very ill and Nāhoa does not know what to do to make her grandmother feel better, so she continues in planning for the Lei festival. She searches for the flowers that they need and gathers the material and brings it to her grandmother. Her grandmother's eyes sparkle as she sees the different flowers for the Leis. Together in the hospital they make the Leis and as the Doctor checks up on Tutu he notices that she is getting better so he sends her home. A few days later is the Lei festival and they take the Leis that they had worked on in the hospital. Tutu wins the Lei festival contest and they are extremely happy.… (mer)

Nahoa is excited that she gets to work with her Tutu, grandmother, at the lei stand today. Tutu and Nahoa plan to finish making their lei to enter in the contest for the lei day festival until her parents tell her that Tutu is in the hospital, due to her heart. She visits Tutu in the hospital and tells her that she is going to help out at the lei stand every afternoon. Tutu isn't feeling any better until one day Nahoa brings some flowers to Tutu. Tutu becomes very happy. One day Nahoa decides to save all the best flowers and greens from the shop and bring them to Tutu so they could finish their lei. Little by little Tutu recovers. Once Tutu feels better they take her to the Lie Day festival where their lei has won first prize. This is a good book to read to a child who may be experiencing a family member in the hospital.… (mer)
