Deuce Flanagan

This book is about sewage - the sewage that comes out of our bathrooms. It gives some history on what different groups have done throughout time, but it sorta focuses on New York City. Apparently they even tried to enlist pigs to eat what the people tossed out into the gutters, but the pigs didn't have much of an appetite for it either. With so many people in NYC and the way it was fouling the river, they had to come up with some way of dealing with the problem.

I have to admit it's kind of interesting. This is a short illustrated book - and while it has the same format as a kid's book, it's really written for adults. The artwork is very decent but somewhat cartoonish - in a crude sort of way. My only complaint with it is the very small size of the text, and that the text is usually a darker or lighter shade as the background which made it a little hard to read in slightly dimmer light. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway, much to my wife's annoyance (she doesn't approve of such topics).… (mer)
