Fun, inspirational young adult story with a strong heroine and a very smart cat.

Sounds Like Love is the heart-warming story of a young woman overcoming several challenging life changes that occur all at the same time. She’s gradually losing her hearing, but her grandmother had been helping her weather the storm of her emotions about this turn of events when she suddenly passes away. Her grandmother, having lost her hearing as an adult, was instrumental in her granddaughter preparing for the inevitable. Now Wendy had to deal with an unwanted cat?! I could imagine how piled-on Wendy felt.

As expected, Wendy has her moments of despair, self-doubt, and self-pity, but the story never lingers on unproductive emotions. The main character is naturally optimistic and was inspired by her grandmother to live her best life no matter what. I loved the note she finds from her grandmother at just the perfect moment.

There is a budding romance that is ignited by an instant attraction. I was delighted with the twists and turns this particular storyline takes where the past meets the future. This was a fun “fated” meeting and future relationship.

SOUNDS LIKE LOVE is a fun, inspirational, clean underdog story recommended for young adult readers.

This a really sweet read, and is full of emotions. A young woman who is loosing her hearing, and a deceased grandmother still being there for her.
A beautifully appropriate title for this book, especially once you've read it!
Because of her past childhood experiences our girl, Wendy, has a dislike of cats! But? Oh my!
I loved all of the surprises that happen, and there are big ones! Delightful!
There are lessons to be learned here, and a smart reminder for all ages!

This is a read packed with warmth and emotion, which touches the heart and more.

Wendy's grandmother has passed away, and when she picks up the belongings, a cat sits inside one of the boxes. Wendy's parents are cat lovers, but they don't want a tabby ruining their breeding plans. Since the local shelter refuses to take it too, she finally gives in and adopts it. But there are more problems on Wendy's horizon as she discovers that she has a incurable condition. If she can learn to accept the can, it might be her first step to taking control of her life again.

This book is only 150 pages, but it packs a lot into it. Every page sits with emotion as Wendy deals with everything from the death of her beloved grandmother to a cat to her family to a health issue and more. It's a read which digs into emotions and makes it impossible not to care about Wendy's situation. She has to learn to look past her narrow view of things and expand into a whole new realm....which isn't easy.

Wendy comes across very naturally, and the cat is a perfect character to help find the balance. The themes are easy to identify and sympathize with. Never does this come across as preachy, but rather, lets the reader sink into each situation.

Young adult readers, who love warm moments and life struggles, are going to enjoy this one quite a bit.
