Bread Is for Eating (Foods of the World) av David Gershator
A traditional South American tale about how great bread is from making a young boy understand the entire process from which it is grown, harvested, packaged, sold, bought and crafted into bread. Also comes with an accompanying song sheet that illustrates the music the mother sings during the story.
Adorable :) A folk tale about roosters crowing. Moon rooster thinks the moon might need encouragement, just like the sun. He gets more than he bargains for when the humans in the neighborhood decide chicken stew might be a good idea!
Summer is Summer by Phillis Gershator is a good book to bring out when summer is about to start. This book has a bunch of lines that are very repetitive, and children will be able to catch on and read along with the teacher or whoever is reading the book. It also helps them get into the summer mood, and helps children learn about the senses being used outside. Sight is the main sense used but smell, and sound are also mentioned. The book could also be used to introduce in the lower grades about the five senses.… (mer)
Very poetic book about summer. Added bonus of find the ladybug on every page. Maybe too poetic for kids, definitely do not get the Gertrude Stein reference, seems confusing.
