Detailed descriptions and maps of 59 hikes on the trails of Shenandoah National Park. The maps are very good, the narrative description of the hikes are fun to read, and there are lots of beautiful pictures. I like the colored maps (hypsometric relief) better than standard topo maps. Each trail head is provided with GPS coordinates - Fantastic! Great book and I've marked a bunch of trails I want to try.

The only negative comment I have is that the elevation profiles of each hike are confusing. For example, the description may say a trail starts out level, but the elevation profile shows a steep uphill! I understand that the scale of the elevation change is exaggerated, but it would be nice if it were consistent from hike to hike.… (mer)
