Om författaren

Martha Grimes was born on May 2, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Maryland. The idea for Martha Grimes' first British detective novel, The Man with a Load of Mischief (1981), was inspired by the name of a British pub she noticed while leafing visa mer through a travel book. A longtime Anglophile, she has continued to use a British pub as both the title and part of the setting in each subsequent novel in the series which features Scotland Yard Detective Richard Jury, his assistant, Melrose Plant, and Plant's interfering Aunt Agatha. The Anodyne Necklace (1983) won her the Nero Wolfe Award. Her other works include The Stargazey, The Case Has Been Altered, The End of the Pier, Biting the Moon, and Dust. Her title, Vertigo 42, made The New York Times Best Seller List in 2014. (Bowker Author Biography) visa färre

This required significant suspension of disbelief but it was fun to be with Jury and friends again.

One of my favorites. Read it twice, and probably will read it again. It's not a good book if mystery is what you're looking for. I did not care much for the mystery aspect. What I fell in love with is the voice of the narrator, 12 year-old, Emma.

I do enjoy a good Richard Jury mystery, even though it takes him a while to solve his cases. As usual he recruits a few of his friends to help, and even requires assistance from a dog and a cat or two.

Big disappointment. Farfetched solution. The Dirty Duck is a famous pub in Stratford and the story centers around American tourists visiting there. The story starts with a missing boy, from a large family, and then the murders begin. The characters were caricatures of rich southerners and stuffy British snobs. It also was very dated with the Concord jet flying in 4 hrs back and forth.
