Mary Mayer Holmes

I love this book about a mail order bride who goes to live with her husband on an island off the coast of Maine. Elijah, the hero, is a lighthouse keeper. Elijah is very mysterious. He never leaves the island and is very taciturn. Augusta, the heroine is gusty and determined and has a tendency to be imaginative. Selkies are hinted at. There are some fun interactions between the hero and the heroine. The book is pretty humorous in tone without being farcical.
