This is book one of the Spellbound series, it was a rather quick read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. At first I was hesitant to embrace this novel; I thought it would be just another vampire story. But I was happily corrected of my assumption! This is a vampire story with a twist. What an excellent imagination Lola James has, I look forward to what book two, Unbound, has in store for us.

This is book two of the Spellbound series, this was a fantastic sequel to Bound to Remember. Part two opens with a love pentagon, yes you read that right. Kevin, Ben, and Hades all vying for Antonia’s affections, while Catherine appears trying to get Ben back. Lola James did an awesome job using all of her characters in some way to help Antonia; the way the lives were woven together was just amazing. I was left hanging at the end of book two, so I can’t wait for book three!

The perfect type of stories that are often used as sit around the camp fire ghost stories. All of them in the collection worked well together. Each one has it's own charm. Spooky with a lot of interesting characters and plots, with some paranormal elements and mystery. The macabre is not overwhelming. Just the right amount that makes this a fun read and not just for Halloween.

Vampires. One of the most popular literary (and cinematic) villains. Makes sense given what they can do to a victim before the victim even realizes they’re there. I admit, I like them better when they actually play the villain.

The overall writing was pretty good. It’s written from the villain’s point of view, which is an interesting take. The main villain of the story was strangely likable.

A Villain’s Fate is a short story that can be read as a prequel to Fate’s Design or afterwards. I read it as a prequel and was a bit confused. I assume that if you read Fate’s Design things fall into place. It did have a nice introduction to characters and a nice revenge plot.

In the end, this did not peak my interest enough to start reading Fate’s Design. I would not recommend A Villain’s Fate, unless you’ve already read Fate’s Design and liked it.
