In all honesty, I only actually listened to 6/7 parts of this audiobook. A download problem kept me from listening to the last bit. The fact that that didn't really bother me was pretty telling. This book was not my thing. The beginning chapters describe some pretty serious issues that the author had to deal with, but this was not an examination of how she coped in any way. There wasn't much in there to educate people about the Mennonite community. The author tried really hard to share the humor in her situation. It didn't work for me.… (mer)
Entertaining. Cute, but not earth shattering.
Adult nonfiction; humor/memoir. Rhoda writes super funny commentary about her life as she undergoes a hysterectomy followed by a divorce to her bipolar husband (who leaves her for a man named Bob from Gay.com).
This is proof that I do not prefer memoirs. It is a book of memories that does not become a story with an ending. There are episodes of her childhood life and habits of her mother that are humorous. What a life she had with a husband who was bipolar even while dating. I still had a hard time with why the author felt this religious life was fine for even her sister yet not for her. It was like she was justifying it to the public but saying it is OK for some people but not all.
