Sadly in need of an update, this book lists thousands of items on the history of Queensland, arguably Australia's most idiosyncratic state. There is a literature overview as well, where the authors discuss the reasons that they did not undertake an annotated bibliography. The listing of regional newspapers is comprehensive, even mentioning cases where only one or two issues of a newspaper survive. The bibliography also draws on the wealth of information in unpublished theses on the topic. The only reason this book does not get five stars is because of its great age, but no one volume has really taken its place in the years since.… (mer)
