Black cover! 158 pages thin. Stunning titles.
Let’s start with those phrases.

BLACK COVER. “What’s with black?” is actually my first thought. As much as I love poetry books, I don’t think I’m ready for a poetry book that would scratch me as a reader. But here I am, with another book crossed from my TBR Pile and with a small smile on my face. It will tear you up.

158 PAGES THIN. I may have used the wrong word though! As it is thin, it’s actually so wordy! Which is a good thing because most poetry books nowadays are ~thick~ but really ~spacious~ and no, I’m so not comparing.

STUNNING TITLES. Okay, so this should blur things I’m out. I’m not allowed to share the contents of the book because 1) respect 2) it’s a rule. What I’ll give you now are the top 5 titles I loved from this poetry book! Your heart will warm, prepare it!

If Everyone Cared
Why Do We Love the Way We Do?
How Hopeful Are You?
Unfinished Conversations
Was, Is and Yet To Be
I think those titles are already telling stories. Mostly, I think the poems are for those who need to be heard. There’s this poem entitled “Moments of Contentment” which ensures that although you are feeling the way you feel, you are not alone. You weren’t alone when you made the decisions that drove your life. You are always accompanied by moments and opportunities to make things breathable. The next poem after that, entitled “Often” strikes the same message but reminds the reader of being alive. A living masterpiece.

Oh, and it’s not all poems. There are proses inside the book! Poetry and prose combined just knocks me out. This book truly meddled with my heart’s happy state then made me satisfied again. It’s just weird and fulfilling. Let me show you my favorite words:

She sat with her cup of tea beside his empty mug; time passed and eventually, so did shee.

That sentence broke my entire soul! Did it break yours? I’m sure it did! If only I could show you the full text, I would! “Take me back in time where…” okay that’s another line from the book. But please, take me back in time where I didn’t read this book so I could still be full. I tried.

I have seen the day fall asleep
In the lap of the nocturnal sky;

Hands down, hands down. My eyes when I read is something more surprised than surprise. I swear, get this book and read it. And remember when I said that this book lets you know that other people are also suffering with you? Well, this book also stated that although there are situations where you could say that you are “the same” with them, it also implies that you are different. You are you.

From there, I encountered the most comforting poem from the book entitled “You Still Have Time.” Basing from the title, it lets you know of all your mistakes and regrets while reminding you that you still have time to use in this world to make it up for everything.

The next to the last set of poems talked about life and how it just ends. Which, I think, is a sensitive topic to tackle. After that comes the weirdest batch of poems. I mean, the poems are okay but why would you put that after giving a kind of ending? That’s my only concern regarding this book, unusual.

Final verdict: I enjoyed this poetry book and will surely reread in case I miss any points!
