Dick King-Smith was born on March 27, 1922 in Bitten, Gloucestershire, England. Before becoming a full-time author, he was a farmer and a schoolteacher. He served in the Grenadier Guards during World War II and attended Marlborough College in Wiltshire. He has written over 100 children's books visa mer including The Fox Busters, The Hodgeheg, and The Sheep Pig (aka Babe-The Gallant Pig), which was adapted as the 1995 film Babe. The 1995 TV miniseries The Queen's Nose was also based in one of his books. He was voted Children's Author of the Year at the 1991 British Book Awards. He died on January 4, 2011 at the age of 88. Vattenhästen av Dick King-Smith

Gissa om jag blev förvånad när den här boken låg i mitt fack, har inget minne av att jag reserverade den - men där låg den o bara väntade på att bli läst, en Hcf-bok om bakgrunden till att det finns ett sjöodjur i Loch Ness... Jag är ju nästan 30 år för gammal för målgruppen för den här boken så jag ska inte yttra mig om personteckningar och miljöbeskrivningar (som om jag brukar det) men för oss sjöodjursintresserade är den läsvärd. Om man är under 9.

Men ingen kommer väl att läsa den för den kommer tydligen som film snart, "uppföljare" till Babe - den modiga grisen.… (mer)
