Unfortunately, I didn't read the previous books, so it was hard for me to get into the story at first. There were lots of politics and complicated relationships between the characters, packs, vampires, and whatnot.
However, I did love the romance part between Brody and London. I also liked the side characters, so I will consider going back to start from book one in the future.
Overall, I did enjoy this book.

In this 5th book of the "Blood Moon, Texas Shifters" series, the story follows Raven - the youngest of the seven Caldwell brothers - and Ellie - the human woman he has a connection to. Danger lurks around them, as the vampire-shifter-human conflict intensifies, with trust something hard to come by and factions even within those groups working at cross purposes. Scary outside forces are arrayed against River and Ellie and their allies, making for a thrilling story as Ellie and River find themselves in a fight for their very survival.

As with the other books in the series, the story's not all intense intrigue and action. There are many amusing pop-culture references, as well as other fun moments too, like River's various names for Ellie's pet rabbits, the description of Ellie's hair ("a dark mane of curls that usually ate at least two hair ties before noon"), and a "note to self: look into canine beauty products if my wolf survived the night". And there are certainly the great sizzling moments between Raven and Ellie. The interactions with their families and allies feel very real, with their conflicts and concern for one another. Ellie's anxiety was well depicted, along with her struggles with it, as well as River's feeling of being an outcast.

This paranormal romance with its steamy scenes and plenty of thriller elements is a wonderful, engaging read. Some deep secrets come to light and some mysteries are cleared up, while others develop and set the stage for the next book - another installment to look forward to!

Brilliant read

I was hooked on this one from the start. It was much darker than I expected, as we are thrown into a world where sixteen-year-old Lea Wylder, is training to fight a colony of werewolves that enslave humans. When Lea stumbles upon an injured young werewolf, she has to decide whether to put aside a lifetime of hatred to aid him, and even if she’s willing, what will be the cost to her?

Lea is really well thought out; I loved her strength in the face of adversity and the growth in her character as she started to question everything. Henrik is really likeable, as is his wolf. I loved their slow burn / enemy-to-lovers cute romance; it was really well done without overpowering the excellent storyline.

There is plenty of intrigue from the start, but there are also so many twists it was incredible. There are a lot of names and things to keep up with, but each new revelation made the investment worthwhile.

The pacing is great. I loved the action scenes; they were so unpredictable. The descriptions are beautiful and original; the accounts of the migraines are done so well, that at times they were overwhelming.

Overall, I highly recommend Dyrwolf to Fantasy, Y.A. and Romance audiences. One of my favourite reads in a long time, and I’ve already bought the sequel. 😊

This 4th book of the "Blood Moon, Texas Shifters" series, Brody and London's story, is an entertaining paranormal shifter romance and enthralling continuation of the series. There's plenty of suspense and some action as the relations between human, shifter, and vampire continue to deteriorate, and other factions make their presence known.

The characters are all compelling and interesting and there's definite heat between Brody and London, tempered by moments of humor and danger. The contradictory feelings that family can have for each other are well integrated into events and the characters' actions. The love and willingness to do anything for family combines with conflicting personalities and exasperation with each other's decisions and actions to make the characters feel real and believable.

There's a lot going on in the book and it keeps the reader guessing about who's behind the troubles and what exactly is the truth behind events. Some is revealed during the course of the story and new complications arise.

Overall, this is a terrific story, entertaining and engrossing, and with great sizzle between the main characters. I didn't want to put it down, needing to read what happened next. Looking forward to the next in the series!
