Somewhere between a sunny Chamber of Commerce-sponsored take on a city and a character study of a set of local entrepreneurs. Houston doesn't have the best reputation among cities in my orbit (thank you, Enron and George H.W. Bush), but there are a lot of original and interesting stories about how Houston grew up and became a player in the US economy. This title starts to tell some of them, and kept my attention reasonably well.
