The year is 1868,the place Cambridge. Dr Simon Witherspoon ,a young clergyman who holds a post at De Vere college discovers the dead body of the college librarian and the fact that various important manuscripts are missing.There are two main strands to the story,firstly the Shakespeare Authorship question,if the great plays and poems were written by Shakespeare or by someone else entirely. The second thread is that of a treasure hoard hidden (supposed)somewhere in the college.Witherspoon teams up with Theresa Brown,a newspaper reporter to find out just where the treasure is hidden.Nothing and no-one is quite what is seems however.
A well told story,with just a little falling off towards the end,The illustrations are quite superb.… (mer)
