Kort biografi
Although Eliza Leslie did not receive any formal education, she read and wrote avidly and became adept at cooking and sewing. In 1828, she published one of the earliest American cookbooks and wrote other popular works on domestic management and etiquette.

Table of contents were recipes are listed by food and meal categories.
Preface then weight and measurements table, general index.
Animal section I found interesting because it shows a few different animals and what portion of meat from which part of the animal.
Soup recipes are written out after the title. There's no listing of ingredients just directions in how to make the dish.
Ends with worth knowing: the best cement for jars, talks about preserving.
Index ends this book.
Footnotes are collected at the back of the book.
Other works in this series is highlighted at the end.

A really good example of early American cookery and pastry making. This book is broken up into three separate parts: 'Part The First' has puddings, custards and creams; 'Part The Second' has cakes, biscuits and gingerbread; 'Part The Third' has jellies and preserves. The Appendix has savory recipes like oyster patties and collared pork, and recipes for cordials and ginger beer. The last two recipes are interesting - Tomata (not a typo) Ketchup, and homemade yeast made with hops.

The Indian Meal Book ; comprising the best American receipts for the various preparations of that excellent article. 2nd ed. Published in Great Britain. The original very hard to find, so having this as a reference is invaluable. See other corn titles. An early single subject cookery title.
